FIRESIDE WITH MICHAEL SHEEN & SOPHIE HOWE

In this session hosted by Sara Pepper (Clwstwr), the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Sophie Howe will introduce the Future Generations Act that requires public bodies in Wales to think about the long-term impact of their decisions. Sophie will then be joined by actor Michael Sheen to discuss what real sustainability needs to work, how the creative industries might play a role in wider, deeper, long-term engagement that solves problems rather than simply manages.

WHERE NEXT? A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR CREATIVE R&D

What have we learnt about the process of Research and Development to create innovation in the creative industries in recent years? This panel with Prof Andrew Chitty (UKRI), Helge O. Svela (Media City Bergen), Justin Lewis (Clwstwr) and Dr Marlen Komorowski (Clwstwr), will ask what the tangible benefits of investing in R&D in the creative industries are. The panelists will discuss how we measure success, looking along the way at what the UK can learn from other European creative clusters, and the lessons of the Creative Industries Cluster Programme – or similar initiatives – for policy makers.
