New Speakers: Esteban Botero and Amanda Dimmock

Join us on Day 1 to hear the fascinating story of Oman’s new national museum, a huge project which has unfolded over nearly a decade. 

 

Oman Across the Ages 

Archival and contemporary film footage, photography, and the considered use of augmented reality combine with stunning object displays to spectacular effect.

Esteban Botero and Amanda Dimmock will recount the epic journey that created ‘Oman across the ages’, as we explore how art and tech have been used to tell Oman’s story.

ESTEBAN BOTERO

We’re excited to welcome Esteban Botero, Creative Director at renowned experience design agency Event, a renowned experience design agency specialising in the creation of large-scale exhibitions for world-class institutions, museums and organisations across the globe.

Esteban BoteroEsteban trained originally as an architect before working as a Senior Designer on projects with Ralph Applebaum Associates including the Bahrain National Charter Monument and Oculus at St Paul’s Cathedral, amongst many other notable projects.

He joined Event in 2014 and as one of our Creative Directors heads up our 3D design team. His experience working on several international projects has been instrumental to the development of our significant cultural projects that consider people, place and history. He has led some of Event’s major projects including one of the studio’s largest; the Renaissance Museum in Oman, now known as the Oman Across Ages Museum.

Esteban has also led the multi award-winning immersive experience that tells the story of the Irish diaspora at EPIC Ireland. Esteban recently led the masterplan for the transformational new Science Centre in Singapore. This major project will become a catalyst for STEM based engagement, as a civic and cultural institute. He is currently the creative lead for the Underground Galleries and Ocean Hall at Denmark’s Natural History Museum.

 

AMANDA DIMMOCK

Amanda Dimmock, EventAmanda Dimmock is a senior content designer at Event.  Her combination of creative interpretive thinking and strong content research skills have made invaluable contributions to many international projects including EPIC: Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, the Carl Nielsen Museum in Odense, and the Oman Across Ages Museum – which explores 800 million years of history across 9,000sqm of permanent gallery space just outside of Nizwa.

Amanda was a driving force behind the interpretation of the Oman Across Ages Museum, shaping the narrative and collections framework during the masterplanning phase, and collaborating with the Client team, local subject experts, and specialist subcontractors to deliver captivating and compelling storytelling experiences. During the project, Amanda headed up Event’s branch office in Oman, giving her the opportunity to immerse herself in the history and heritage of the country.
