How do we use creativity in a crisis? This year at BEYOND (18-19 Oct Cardiff & 20 Oct Online) we are asking about the roles the creative industries might take as we try to build a zero-carbon future.
Award-winning investigative journalist, researcher and community organiser, Shirish Kulkarni will be talking with Claire Doherty, creative director of GALWAD, a multi-platform story that imagines alternative futures in the shadow of climate change. Claire will be joined by production designer world-builder Professor Alex McDowell to tell us how over 100 people from communities across Wales came together to imagine life in 2052.
Sophie Howe, the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, will be telling us about her role as the guardian of the interests of future generations in Wales, and exploring alongside actor Michael Sheen what this means both for the creative industries and our response to the climate crisis.
Hosted by this year’s MC Jason Mohammad, there will be lots on the table to discuss. From how the sector is cleaning up its own act, to telling stories that might change our ways, to imagining a future worth working towards.
