Speaker Biography

Kate Goldsworthy is Co-Director of the Centre for Circular Design at UAL, and Deputy Director of the Business of Fashion Textiles & Technology creative cluster.

She has been working in sustainable and circular design research for over 20 years with a passion for collaboration across disciplines and within industry contexts.

Her research bridges materials science, industry and design through transdisciplinary & practice-based methods, with a focus on sustainable materials, manufacturing innovation and lifecycle design. An extensive period of working with the textile manufacturing industry gave her first-hand understanding of the complexities of sustainable innovation from raw material through the stages of textile production and informed her PhD research, the first practice-based circular design doctorate in the UK.

Kate has undertaken a range of industrial consultancy and collaborative projects for fashion and textiles organisations. She currently sits on Worn Again Technologies’ Circular Advisory Panel and in 2020 co-founded World Circular Textiles Day.
