LIU Zhenyuan is Associate Professor at College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University (D&I), which was ranked 13th in Art and Design according to Quacquarelli Symonds(QS) world university ranking by subject in 2020. He has two major roles at D&I: Director of BA Industrial Design and Director of Next Mobility Lab.

He has worked extensively with international companies and organisations to foster new research environments and context for design education and creative learning, including Alibaba, Tencent, Haier, IBM, Siemens, Starbucks, IKEA, Boeing, Honeywell, SAIC, CRRC, Nissan, Autodesk, Catia, Ellen McArthur Foundation, Peace Parks Foundation, World Design Organization and more.

Zhenyuan is now working on StoryFutures China as Principal Investigator for China with Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology and the National Gallery.
