Creating Novel Gameplay Mechanics with Soft-Body Deformable Characters
Mr Grant Clarke is Lecturer in the Division of Games Technology & Mathemtics in the School of Design & Informatics, Abertay University. He is undertaking a PhD to explore how computationally expensive physics-based animation techniques can be implemented on current technologies to create deformable characters that can be used to create new, innovative and interactive experiences.
Before joining Abertay as a lecturer, he spent 15 years as a computer games developer in the commercial sector. His research explores the use of real-time soft body physics simulation to create dynamic digital characters and to broaden the range of interactive experiences possible within the realm of computer games entertainment and other related fields.
