Speaker Biography

Myra Appannah is a BAFTA and Sundance-nominated writer, artist and technologist creating new forms of experience across story, video games, VR, AR, audio, immersion and play. Led by experimentation, her practice pushes at the boundaries between forms, building ambitious work that reaches audiences far beyond traditional cultural spaces; from 20 minutes in an abandoned toilet to 3 days across the Arizona desert. Her work has been described by UKRI as “one of the most influential British immersive productions of the last 20 years.” As co-founder of BRiGHTBLACK, her work has toured internationally to 16 countries and she has partnered with organisations including National Gallery, the British Council, BFI and 100s of grassroots organisations.
