Speaker Biography

Dr Cathy Kerfoot is the Programme Director for Creative Industries at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). She is responsible for a £369m programme of investment in the sector, which spans R&D, infrastructure, scale up, talent and policy and evidence.

The Creative Industries programme includes a £100m investment in Creative Industries Clusters, driving growth across the UK’s regions, the £76m CoSTAR creative technology network, enabling nationwide access and innovation in convergent screen technologies, the globally renowned Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre, and Innovate’s Next Wave programme, supporting high potential businesses to start, scale and stay in the UK.

Cathy is a member of the senior leadership team at the Arts and Humanities Research Council and sits on a number of UKRI investment programme boards. Prior to joining AHRC, Cathy worked in national Higher Education policymaking. She has a PhD in literature from the University of Leeds.
