Richard Wormwell is Head of Innovation at dock10, one of the UK’s leading television and media production facilities. With nearly 30 years of experience spanning broadcast engineering, directing, and creative technology, Richard has been at the forefront of driving innovation across the media production landscape.
He has led transformative projects such as the BBC’s Match of the Day virtual studio relaunch and has steered over £9 million in government-backed research and development, including the pioneering ALL.VP programme exploring AI-powered lighting, deep learning compositing, and 3D human reconstruction. His earlier work included a key role in the UKRI-funded Weavr project, which redefined immersive sports storytelling through real-time data and virtual production.
Richard works closely with leading academic institutions to advance next-generation production techniques and is recognised as a leader in production innovation. He continues to push the boundaries of how audiences experience content, fostering high-performing teams that bridge creativity, technology, and storytelling.
