Speaker Biography

David Bull is Professor of Signal Processing at the University of Bristol. He is Director of the MyWorld Strength in Places Programme, a successful £30m UKRI devolved investment in creative technologies R&D in the West of England. David’s work in the fields of visual computing and visual communications has produced over over 600 academic papers and patents and five books, frequently in collaboration with major organisations such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BT and BBC. He has won many international awards for his work and is regularly invited to deliver keynote lectures. He has also consulted for organisations across the globe, both on research strategy and innovative technologies and regularly advises UK national government. His work has been widely exploited commercially and, in 2001, he co-founded ProVision Communication Technologies, acting as its Director and Chairman until acquisition in 2011. David is a chartered engineer, a Fellow of the IET and a Fellow of the IEEE.
