Speaker Biography

The world’s first and only Professor of Story, for over 25 years Bambo has created and led an ambitious portfolio of programmes with artists, educators and entrepreneurs. Her current programmes are supported by Arts Council England (ACE) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Previous partners include National Theatre Wales, British Council, ESRC, REACT, and Pervasive Media Centre.

Bambo founded and leads The Story Society, a research centre at Bath Spa University. The Story Society is home to groundbreaking programmes such as Paper Nations, a creative writing incubator which seeks to support writers in the South-West.

Bambo is also the AHRC’s Director for Story, helping to shape the future of narrative research in the UK. Her AHRC-funded programme, StoryArcs, strives to explore and define the unique skill set of storytellers by placing Early Career Researchers with expertise in storytelling or Story analysis in professional settings. The programme will highlight the vital importance of Story as a skill for life and work.
