Dr Maruša Levstek
My approach to creativity and research is driven by a desire to make new creative and technological innovations accessible, inclusive and impactful. With an academic background in psychology and the social sciences, I am passionate about translating research into real-world applications. My work is rooted in co-creation with future audiences and users, fuelled by a belief in the transformative power of creativity, whether through immersive experiences, multisensory installations or inclusive music spaces.
I have learned that innovation is not just about new technologies; it is about ensuring those technologies are meaningful and accessible. Too often, I have seen development driven by tech rather than by the people it is meant to serve. Sitting between academia and industry, I focus on connecting researchers, creatives and communities. I have spent my career so far advocating for future audiences, users and the planet, sharing insights at conferences (including BEYOND 2022), in reports, academic articles and podcasts such as Alex Makes VR and Amata World.
Currently, I am exploring how we can engage the senses through storytelling (at CoSTAR) and encourage collaboration between creatives and the social-impact sector (at AKO Storytelling Institute). I am excited to join BEYOND Emerging Innovators, connect with like-minded peers and contribute to a forward-thinking creative community.
