Immersive and Personalised Podcasting

What does a next-generation podcast sound like? This poster details new research endeavours into making podcasts more personalised and immersive and delves into the methodology of designing and building tools to enable innovative forms of content, as well as recent advances made in podcast-related research. It presents insights from a study conducted with podcast producers around their current production methods, and how new practices could be integrated into their existing workflows. This research demonstrates a creator-centric approach to innovation in interdisciplinary media, which focuses on delivering new types of content for the audience. By lying at the intersection of audio production, computer science, and interactive media, this project is an example of how academic research can be translated into concrete outputs, through a partnership with the BBC and XR Stories.
