Piñatex® is a pioneering plant-based textile made by Ananas Anam. It is vegan, carbon neutral and free from harmful chemicals – an alternative to the leather used by the fashion, textiles and interior markets. Using 95% of renewable resources and waste equivalent to 12KG CO2 per linear meter of Piñatex® material produced, Ananas Anam helps local farmers turn their waste into a diversifying income opportunity.

Ananas Anam’s partnership with the Dole Sunshine Company and collaborations with large fashion and interior groups ensures that Ananas Anam’s values and ethos remain fully aligned, from local pineapple leaf fibre extraction to the use of Piñatex® in various global markets.

The poster exhibition will be part of the roundtable discussion chaired by Prof Kate Goldsworthy on how the BFTT R&D funding enabled Ananas Anam to further develop the quality and production methods of Piñatex® that reached the market swiftly. These innovations have enabled the business to be resilient in a challenging industry environment and to move strategically towards a zero-carbon future.
