Leah Kurta

Speaker Biography
Leah Kurta: Co-founder of Ida XR Studio, Head of Business Development and Research at Existent and PhD candidate at Goldsmiths University of London.
Leah is co-founder of Ida XR studio which supports women, non-binary and trans people working in immersive and virtual production industries. Leah works with the immersive technology sector to understand the needs of this community to create more inclusive events, festivals, and workplaces. In 2024 she will be working with venues around the UK to engage communities of women, trans and non-binary creators to promote and showcase their work.
Leah also has a wealth of experience as a digital consumer psychologist researching users’ experience of digital entertainment, from TV to XR technologies. She applies psychological insights and methods to help inform new products and services and commercial strategy. This has been a focus of her research for the past 5 years and the basis of her PhD.
As Head of Business Development and Research for Existent, Leah helps shape the direction of the business to reach new and emerging markets. She will launch Existent’s research practice in late 2023 and cultivate a community of creatives, technologists, and enthusiasts to use and test Existent’s tool for building physical sets and props and mapping them with absolute precision into the virtual environment.
