Early Career Researcher Poster Exhibition


Doctoral Candidates and Early Career Researchers working in the areas of research that address one of the Beyond 2019 conference themes: Artificial Intelligence (AI); Machine Learning; Creative Technology and Data and their application for, and influence on, the creative industries are invited to submit a short abstract for a poster.

The abstract should be between 250-300 words and describe the research project and its relevance to the conference themes; this can be work-in-progress or completed research. All abstracts will be peer reviewed by suitably qualified reviewers, and selected based on novelty, significance and rigour of the research.

All selected participants will be invited to showcase their research projects at the Beyond 2019 Poster Exhibition, which is being held on the 20-21st November at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.

Call for Posters Timeline

  • Submission deadline – 31 July 2019 (midday) – applications now closed
  • Notification of successful application – 16 August 2019
  • Full poster submission deadline – 30 September 2019 (midday)

Poster Proposals

Poster abstracts should be on research projects that explore one or more of the following themes:

  1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  2. Data – creative led, creative driven and data ethics

Applicants should put forward an abstract that describes their research project and its relevance to the conference themes above, as well as a short bio note.

They may also supply supporting visual materials if relevant. Abstracts and bio notes should be submitted using the ECR Poster Exhibition – Abstract Call Form with all supporting information saved and uploaded in PDF format the deadline.

Poster Specifications

The call welcomes both physical posters or tableaus and/or digital presentations. Images, graphics, and other visuals should be an essential part of the poster alongside a description of the research project. In addition, physical models or VR/AR demos will also be welcomed subject to available space and set-up requirements.

Poster Exhibition Fees

Entry fees for postgraduate researchers and early career researchers are £99 + VAT & booking fees. This includes access to the full conference programme and innovation showcase.
