Speaker Biography

Ruth Mariner specialises in interactive and immersive storytelling. She is a creative director and narrative designer, making experiences in immersive technologies (XR), theatre and video games.

Recent clients and funders include XR Stories, BFI network,
indie game studios Idoz & Phops, and Aardman Animations.
Key current projects include VR storytelling project Shapshifter, interactive installation ‘I Am Your Mirror’ funded
by Arts Council England. Upcoming projects include the role of narrative designer for a new mixed reality game for Meta Quest 3.

Ruth’s background is as an award-winning writer and stage director and writer. Career highlights include serving as Creative Director for the BBC Dream Prom, and holding writing and directing roles with institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music, The Royal Opera House, and English National Opera. Ruth has also crafted experiences for museums and communities, including the Museum of London, The Eden Project, and the British Red Cross. Her work has been showcased on BBC Radio 3, ITV, and Channel 4 news.
