Speaker Biography

Natalia Palombo is a curator, director and consultant, based in Scotland.

Her practice centres place-based approaches, both in rural and urban settings, developing creative places for everyone through programming, building development and creative workspace provision. Over the last 15 years, Natalia has led reputable, inspiring and place-responsive arts organisations in Scotland, and produced high quality programmes across the UK and internationally that address urgent social, cultural and political issues.

Natalia is a Founding Director of Many Studios, a creative organisation in Glasgow, where she also developed an international project space, The Gallow Gate, from 2015-2021. Through this programme, Natalia commissioned a film by London-based artist Larry Achiampong; commissioned and edited a publication with artists Ndidi Dike and Raisa Kabir, for Glasgow International; and curated an exhibition with artists Athi-Patra Ruga and Ayọ̀ Akínwándé for the official programme of the 13th Havana Biennial.

Between 2021-2024, Natalia directed Deveron Projects, a pioneering socially engaged art organisation in Huntly, Scotland. Her directorship took on the ambitious capital development of a heritage building, introducing a state-of-the-art artist studio/accommodation and a bustling community hub in Huntly’s town centre. In her role, Natalia created collaborative and just conditions for artists from all over the world to realise high-profile commissions.

Natalia currently works independently, between Scotland and Italy, with organisations including Many Studios, Street Level Photoworks and Villa Lena Foundation. Through curation, project management and consultancy, Natalia is supporting artists and creative businesses to realise ambitious projects and build sustainable, creative business models for the future.
