Speaker Biography
Nadin is a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence in the School of Informatics at University of Edinburgh; and a Senior Research Affiliate at the Centre for Technomoral Futures, Edinburgh Futures Institute. Her research interests include human-centered AI, Privacy, Argument Mining, Responsible AI and AI Ethics. Nadin regularly serves on the program committees for leading AI conferences such as AAMAS, IJCAI, AAAI and ECAI. Nadin has dedicated over a decade of her career to the realm of academia. Her expertise is in using AI to develop decision-support tools for humans to make informed decisions. Currently, Nadin is involved in a project that seeks to develop an AI-based mediator technology designed to help organizations and users address the harmful consequences of AI systems.
Nadin is eager to provide guidance on ethical concerns in various industries, including the Creative Industries, where human-AI interactions are prevalent. Currently, many organizations are interested in utilizing AI responsibly but lack knowledge on how to do so. Nadin can offer her expertise in AI to help these organizations establish a pipeline for incorporating ethical principles by design. Specifically, Nadin is interested in working with organizations that prioritize ethical values when adopting AI technologies.
