Nicola Osborne

Speaker Biography

Nicola Osborne is Programme Manager for Creative Informatics, leading the delivery of the project
and the recent Creative AI Demonstrator project, in close collaboration with academic leads, and
engaging with creative industry organisations across the Edinburgh cluster. 
 
Nicola is also manager of the Institute for Design Informatics, is part of the EU-funded ekip:
European Cultural and Creative Industries Innovation Policy Platform, co-leads the Digital Footprint
MOOC, and is co-investigator of the new UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Trustworthy and
Responsible in-the-World Natural Language Processing.  
 
Nicola previously worked in innovative data projects at EDINA and holds research and professional
interests in how innovative data driven creative work connects to ethics, EDI and personal digital
tracks and traces. They are a member of the Turing Institute of Data Science and Digital Humanities
Interest Group, the Journal of Open Research Software Editorial Advisory Board and the Association
of Internet Researchers, and regularly disseminates their work through performances at the
Edinburgh Fringe.
