The language of data-driven technology from AI, ML, NLP and blockchain is bewildering and confusing. This two hour event will demystify the jargon that is used by tech companies and the media that makes the future sound so cool, but very hard to understand. Designed in the form of a game show, participants will join teams to compete and collaborate in answering questions that will reveal what the data science is, and what it isn\u2019t. Developed by the Creative Informatics Cluster, the event will take place at Inspace, part of the Bayes Centre for Data-Driven Innovation.<\/p>\n

What exactly is \u2018creativity\u2019 and more specifically, what does it mean to be \u2018creative\u2019 in the context of the Creative Industries?<\/p>\n

Dr. Oli Mould from Royal Holloway, University of London will kick off the symposium with some lively debate, giving a provocation based on his 2018 book \u2018Against Creativity\u2019. Responding to Oli’s provocation, Professor Vicky Gunn, head of learning and teaching at the Glasgow School of Art, will make the case ‘for creativity’.<\/p>\n

Symposium participants will be encouraged to give short (3 minute) \u2018lightning introductions\u2019 and to submit any \u2018burning issues\u2019 they would like to put on the table for discussion.<\/p>\n
