Copper Candle showcase: how emerging artists can perform in Fortnite using accessible motion capture, sharing insights from their CoSTAR-funded research.

Copper Candle have been funded by CoSTAR to discover the most accessible methods of bringing artists into the Metaverse via Fortnite by battle-testing the latest in motion capture technology.

Music in Fortnite is huge, but it’s limited to the big names and the gatekeeping of Epic Games. Copper House is the first independent music venue in Fortnite which caters to the emerging artists.

Our research with CoStar has helped us to discover the technical and commercial solution that allows us to deliver this vision and we can demonstrate this for the Beyond audience in our showcase. An important part of our project is to share and educate the community with with our findings, and we will treat this showcase as a practical demonstration and knowledge sharing “lab”.
As long as I can position two tripods with the cameras on them at points further away with a way of running cables to them? an extra TV, I would love to put our showreel on one and the mocap experience on the other, but if this isn’t possible I’ll try to do a multiview/split thing with a template from the one computer. I’ll bring a full PC setup with me so a good sized table and chair to operate it would be ideal too.
