Speaker Biography<\/h3>

Navtej Purewal is Professor in Anticolonial and Decolonial Politics and Praxes at University of the Arts London based in the Decolonising Arts Institute and is currently AHRC India fellow coordinating a research programme on India-UK research into the creative industries and cultural heritage. She was previously at SOAS where she was Professor of Political Sociology and Development Studies and prior to that Deputy Director of the SOAS South Asia Institute. She has worked on several AHRC funded projects, including Border Crossings (working with Dr. Eleanor Newbigin, SOAS) which focused on reflections in the diaspora on the partition at the 75th anniversary through new technologies and conversations, and the GRID Heritage project which highlighted gender and intersectionality across different art practices and forms in India and the diaspora. <\/p>
