Speaker Biography
Dr. Hyojung Sun is a research associate in creative industries at Ulster University. The role was originally commissioned by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and is funded by the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC) and Future Screen Northern Ireland (FSNI). Dr Sun conducts evidence-based research for policy across the creative industries and supports the development of innovation mapping and creative industries business models in Northern Ireland.
Hyojung is the author of Digital Revolution Tamed: The Case of the Recording Industry and has conducted a range of groundbreaking UK government-funded cultural policy-relevant research projects including Music 2025 – the Data Dilemma and Music Creators’ Earnings in the Digital Era. These projects have supported and informed the development of policy in Government and across the cultural industries. With several years of industry experience in the IT sector and a PhD in Science and Technology Studies (STS), she offers unique and creative insights into cross-sectoral links and extensive knowledge of the interdependencies between technology and culture for informing policy development.
