Speaker Biography
Laura is an R&D Fellow in Textile Science and Technology at the UAL Fashion Textiles and Technology Institute, where she works at the interface of industry, higher education research and knowledge exchange to shape an R&D agenda in technical textiles.
Laura’s expertise in textile science and technology comes from over 12 years working in the textile and apparel industry. Most of this time was spent within in textile research consultancies, research institutes and manufacturing facilities, managing new product development R&D projects and conducting textile science research. Laura holds a master’s in science (MSc) degree within Advanced Textiles from the University of Leeds, UK. Research interests focus on new sustainable innovations, technologies, materials and processes which are shaping the textile and apparel industry of the future.
Laura works as FTTI Lead on the planning and delivery of the New Landscapes Catalyst Grant Scheme, supported by the British Council. Where she has been working to develop the program, deliver the program and support businesses in achieving their R&D goals.
