Speaker Biography
Chioma Ogbudimkpa, is a multiple award-winning entrepreneur, who has fused her passion for fashion and the environment to create innovative and sustainable fashion solutions. Her womenswear designs made from eco-friendly materials like upcycled water hyacinth fibre, handwoven textile waste and upcycled agro waste, have been featured on several global fashion platforms including Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Vogue, etc.
Chioma was awarded the 2023 New Landscapes FTT Catalyst R&D Grant, for proposing an R&D project to explore optimization methods for water hyacinth fibre sourced from the Nigeria waterways, to become more suitable for fashion applications through enhancing the durability, feel and drape. This 5-month long R&D project culminated in the development of 4 prototype yarn blends, achieved through series of experiments.
Chioma is the founder and CEO of Redbutton, a sustainable fashion company based in Nigeria, developing a first-of-its-kind inclusive circular fashion platform for fashion rental, resale and repairs in West Africa.
