Speaker Biography
Shakira Morka is a Young Company Member of GALWAD with a keen interest in researching and writing about marginalised groups. Her article ‘Unseen: Young Black and Welsh’, created with support from Solutions Journalism documents her experience and that of other black Welsh speakers.
She has co-lead project on underpresented young people in health and science research, hosted by Shift and funded by UNICEF and Wellcome. During her time at GALWAD she also completed a communications internship at Student Minds where she researched and created content focused on Welsh, POC and disabled students.
She is currently a second year psychology student at the University of Bristol.
